Siblings at CCA... How to make the most of it!

It is always so fun when siblings enjoy the same activities. There’s the convenience of bringing them to the same place, having hand-me-down shoes and attire and taking advantage of multi-student discounts. But the priceless benefits of sharing a common love for an activity include the opportunities to practice together, learn from one another and develop that special bond that comes with having shared passions and experiences.
Needless to say, we are very excited that your family has chosen to send your dynamic sibling pack to Clarion Center for the Arts. The friends they make and the life-skills they learn here will carry them into a super bright future. As you embark on this adventure with us, here are a few things to keep in mind…
1. No two kids are alike. As I’m sure you are well aware, your kids are probably more different than they are alike. This is very true in their dance education as well. Even in the same microwave, popcorn pops at all different times. Please be patient with your kids and don’t expect them to “pop” in the same way. Each student benefits from dance in unique ways, so even if the journeys are different, they’re equally valuable!
2. Scheduling can be tricky. Some years things will work in your favor and you’ll be able to schedule your kiddos’ classes on the same nights. But when you do have to bring your kids on different days, take advantage of having some one-on-one time with the kiddo who isn’t in class. Or maybe there’s a new class that kiddo could add to their dance training while their sibling is in class!
3. Our Recitals are split into multiple shows. Because of the way we divide classes, we can’t guarantee that every sibling group will end up in the same show. We know this means you could be buying tickets for multiple shows, but at least that would give the siblings a chance to watch and support each other! The nice thing is, our shows are only about 2 hours long, so friends and family won’t get bored if they end up coming to both. It’s like seeing their favorite movie again in the theatre! (Only this is better because it’s YOUR kids!)
4. Tuition in your Parent Portal can be confusing. Our tuition is figured out by adding up the total hours of classes your family takes. The first hour is one rate with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th hours getting a little bit of a discount. Unfortunately, your Parent Portal doesn’t really break this down clearly for siblings. Instead, it figures out your family’s total and then haphazardly divides it among all enrolled students on your account. For this reason, we encourage you to pay attention to your family’s TOTAL tuition and ignore each kiddo’s individual tuition. When you want to know how adding or deleting a class from your schedule would affect your tuition, please ask!
